Back from beautiful Iceland. We made a circuit of Iceland by car and did camping. More photos to share later!

I'm back from Sweden. I can't describe how much I loved it there.

I'll definitely be back to discover more!

Oh Berlin was amazing! I didn't bother taking many photos though.
However, there are several artists I discovered during this short trip.
Alexandra Bircken is one..
See an interview with her here

Another thing: Olafur Eliasson's exhibition
at Martin Gropius Bau was especially stunning!
It's been a while since I've been to such a stimulating exhibition.

Thanks everyone for the tips.
I can't wait to go back (probably in the weekend next time for the fleamarkets..).

Things I brought from Kyoto

Last winter
Found them at the fleamarket.
I had a hard time choosing colours of the zippers.
They were so cheap and such exquisite colours.. possibly hand-dyed?
Now I need to find some fabrics for some dresses and skirts!

At the market in Kyoto (again).
Beautiful patterns and colours of vintage kimotos, ceramics, kokeshi, and stamps
The little 'moneybox' lady's got a swedish flag on it somehow. I don't know why.

The center of me followed her, but I was left with the shell of me.
Extremely loud and incredibly close

I was so touched by the sign above,
' please protect/take good care of plants and flowers on the Path of Philosophy'
(there's a path in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto), written by a school kid.
There's something so beautiful and liberating about the handwriting and the way children draw.
Sadly as we get older, we tend to lose those qualities.
I've been thinking of art education lately.
Do we consciously or unconsciously try to draw 'better'?
Is learning to draw as precisely as possible really necessary?
I don't agree with the idea that the word 'right or wrong' exists in drawings
or any form of so-called art in general as some people say.

KYOTO

Fleamarket (held on the 25th of every month) at Kitano tenmangu Shrine is
a must-see when visiting Kyoto.
There are also many food vendors so make sure you go hungry!

That's it for Kyoto for now. I need to move on..

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

p.s. Keibunsha is the most beautiful bookshop I've ever been.
It's got a small gallery and sells hand crafted items and some stationery as well.
(last two photos are inside the bookshop)

KYOTO

By the way, I had a nice surprise this morning at hui hui.
I have secretly been a fan of their clothing line, so I'm very flattered.
Thanks!
