1. VADS:online resource for visual arts
Something as free and lively as this makes me happy. Find more on the site.

2. I recently discovered Sri Threads.
From what I know, it's a textile gallery in NY, specializing in antique Japanese folk textiles.
I've no knowledge on the subject so I learn a lot from their blog.
The 2nd pic above however, is Ralli quilts from Pakistan which I find beautiful as well.

Looking forward to checking out Sri Threads at some point. Thanks, the Japanese have, for the most part, such a wonderful design aesthetic. Can't wait to see the antique textiles!

Your finds, always the best.
These too just gorgeous-

I think the point you raised about art eductation is very important. At first I craved 'formal training'. Now the idea of creating a 'likeness' is absurd to me and creating 'expressive' forms and lines on paper is my core goal. Like most things in life I think art is ruled by paradoxes. You learn the rule so that you can break it and create something new.
And lets not forget that art changes face with culture and it is time specific-does the world need another new likeness at a time of multiple abundant photographic images? Maybe at a time when technology 'rules' we need art that takes us to magical, intuitive places-That's what I need anyway-I am sorry I wrote so much, I have had these things on my mind very much lately-
Have a lovely day,
Annamaria
